Jay started coming over after that. They drank beer and ate Chinese food. Linda had made a movie. She shot traffic and shadows and the corners of building and put them together in a movie that sometimes Jay and her would watch. When the movie was on I could see hard faces. Sometimes they watched Spanish soap operas. They'd lay next to each other on her laundry covered mattress to watch the TV Linda made butter cookies. Jay said they were the most wonderful cookies anywhere ever. I knew that Jay was in love with her. She wooed him with her cookies and the runny sounds of her translating Los Mujeres Del Amor. She pretended not to know because she did not love him. Also she was not beautiful and didn't want Jay to see her naked. Also I think there are reasons I don't know because I can't see what she does in the corners of the bathroom. Also I don't understand everything because I am a fish and my memory is shallow and I can't see beyond its limits.
