I am not from California. I am from Arizona. There isn't anything remarkable about how people from Arizona speak, but in California the women speak fast and precisely. They are articulate and the consonants are always clear in the rush of words, but the speed precludes any real recognition of the vowels.

There is a TV show about a group of Vampires living in the Midwest. They sleep in an abandoned warehouse and prey on drug dealers and scowl. The vampire who feels guiltiest is played by a blond actress. She is supposed to be a former duchess from Germany in the 16th century, but she doesn't have any German accent. And she doesn't talk like she is from Chicago, which houses her abandoned warehouse. I can tell the actress is from California. She says, "Lookintohiseyesandseethefaceofevil, butwhatmakes himevil? Childrenaretaughttohate." After watching the show, I realized that I speak like that as well. Even though I was raised in Arizona I talk like I am from California.
