![]() | Grandma wore a green dress with daisies sewn along the top. They were little yellow cloth suns. The paste of wet flour was under her fingernails and in the crease at the waist of her dress. She called both of us dumplings and gave us biscuits with doughy sausage gravy. We spent the night at Grandma's about every other week. Grandpa grew vegetables and roses in the back yard. Violets grew in the shade by the back steps. Grandma said oh my little dumplings. And we ran to her and grabbed at the edge of her damp green dress. |
